Projects completed at Syracuse University...
Schooled - click on photo to view video
My senior independent project was a refreshing change in which I was solely responsible for
the concept. Over last summer and fall semester I created a completely original story and characters for my own short film. I modeled all of the characters of the story, and created rigs for each. I explored and taught myself many techniques not included in my formal CG coursework, some such examples were new
techniques for rigging the face and hair. During the Spring semester I completed the animation,
lighting, rendering, postproduction, and audio for the short film. The entire project taught me a great
deal about every aspect of the production pipeline for making a completely finished film.
Moon, Earth, Sun Orbit - click on photo to view video
The first part of a project I did showing the orbit of the Sun, Earth, and Moon using an exact scale of the planets, and their orbit patterns, while drastically increasing the speed of time. I also included examples where the scale of the planets was increased so they can be easily seen from various camera angles.
Accurate Moon, Earth, Sun Scale - click on photo to view video
The second part of the Moon, Earth, and Sun orbit project showing the Sun, Earth, and Moons accurate relative scale.
Gnome Test Animation - click on photo to view video
Asmall part of a group project while at Syracuse. I was responsible for character modeling, rigging, and animation, so I completed a small shot from the short film the group was working on in order to test my rig.
SuperBot - click on photo to view video
A man creates a superhero robot to save the world. However, when he tests the robot out he finds it is not as heroic as he originally thought. I originally created this live-action project in stereoscopic 3D for my stereography class at Syracuse University.
The Grind - click on photo to view video
Project for my advanced audio production and recording class. My original idea was to show a guy having a bad day at work while only being able to see a representation of the sound through particle effects. I found that the short was much easier to read with a small bit of light for the character and objects though. I added the lights after realizing this, and made the visual representation more of a mood representation than a literal visual translation of the characters world.
Synesthesia - click on photo to view video
Similar short to "The Grind" because it deals with a character who can not see. I wanted to explore the everyday life of a blind man with synesthesia. Then with some liberal creative freedom, I created a visual representation of what the man hears and feels throughout his walk to work.
Video Games Suck! - click on photo to view video
A group of guys learn they are not as good at video games as they thought they were after being transported into the game. This was a group project, and most of my work consisted of green screen filming/lighting, Nuke compositing, and color correction.
Harold at the Movies - click on photo to view video
A short film about a man who falls asleep during a movie, and ends up dreaming he is in the movie he is watching. This film was a group project, and my contribution to the project was mostly color correction and compositing.
Ellen Was Here - click on photo to view video
A short film about a girl trying to leave her mark on the world. This film was a group project, and my contribution to the project was mostly color correction and compositing.
Dollar Short - click on photo to view video
Short animation about a boy who finds a dollar on the ground on his way home from school.
Particle Test for Finding Nemo Soundtrack - click on photo to view video
A short particle test using Maya to try to sync the particle color, and attenuation to a vortex with the loudness of the music. All audio from the Pixar film Finding Nemo.
BatBot - click on photo to view video
A small modeling, rigging, animation, and cloth dynamics exercise about a remote controlled bat robot running down a building.
